More than 20,000 seniors are expected to converge on Olympic Park over the next two days to attend the Royal Easter Show’s 14th annual Seniors Days. The Seniors Days are Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March.
Minister for Ageing and Disability Services, Kristina Keneally, said NSW Seniors Card holders will get discounted entry, free live entertainment, free tea and coffee, and entry to great competitions as well as free sample bags for the first 10,000 seniors to visit the seniors stall each day.
"Seniors Days at the Sydney Royal Easter Show are becoming bigger and better each year, and I encourage NSW Seniors Card members to come along and enjoy the fun," Ms Keneally said.
"NSW Seniors Card members receive a $6.50 discount on their entry to the Sydney Royal Easter Show, and tickets include travel on CityRail trains, Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Bus services, regular "blue and white" Sydney Buses and Sydney ferries.
"Seniors Card members get free tea, coffee and biscuits from 9.30am to 3.00pm from the senior’s stalls and the chance to win two Gold Service tickets on the Indian Pacific, valued at $1,330, plus a special dozen wines.
"And the sample bags this year are made from cloth instead of plastic – ‘greening up’ the great event. The show bags include a great range of discounts at a number of participating businesses.
"Staff and more than 50 volunteers from NSW Seniors Card are looking forward to meeting members at the Show and will be on hand to answer questions regarding the program and the many discounts available.
"Seniors can pick up a free Seniors Days program when entering the Show, which contains a complete listing of all discounts available.
"I’m told Seniors Card Holders can also expect a range of discounts at many show exhibitions."
Ms Keneally said the Seniors Card encourages older people to enjoy an active and healthy retirement, and that the scheme is free to join, not assets-tested and people do not have to disclose their income.
