Carers

Older man and his carer
The NSW government is committed to creating a society where people of all ages are valued and independent.

Carers are usually family members who provide care and assistance to others, including children and adults with a disability and frail, older people.

They play a crucial role in enhancing the health and well being of others.

Carers can receive support from a variety of sources, including family, friends, non-government agencies and government departments. View a list of related links.

Services

Services are available specifically for carers, such as respite care, as well as for older people and people with a disability themselves, such as personal care and day programs, that can also benefit carers.

DADHC directly provides services through Home Care NSW and through DADHC Disability Services. It also funds a range of services through the Home and Community Care Program and Disability Services Program.
